On June 15, 2024 changes to the procedure for providing the state service “Apostille of official documents emanating from justice authorities and other government bodies, as well as notaries of the Republic of Kazakhstan” came into force.

Now an application for apostille through the Electronic Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Egov) portal with a list of required documents is submitted using an electronic digital signature (EDS).

To apply through the portal you need: an electronic application with an electronic signature, a scanned copy of the document attached to the application and a notarized power of attorney if the apostille is carried out by a representative of the document owner - an individual, or a power of attorney from a legal entity if the representative acts on behalf of the organization. In the event that the personal data of the recipient of the service has changed since the moment the legalized document was issued to him, supporting documents should be attached to the application. The same applies to situations when the heir of the document owner applies for an apostille.

The Public Service Center (PSC) checks the authenticity of the sample signature and seal imprint on the electronic or scanned original document attached to the application. In addition, PSC employees determine whether the submitted documents comply with the requirements of the Apostille Convention and other regulations.

If everything is in order with the application and documents, the authorized official, on the same working day, using the “E-Apostille” information system on the electronic document subject to apostille, generates an electronic apostille and, through the “electronic government” gateway, sends the result signed with digital signature to his personal account to the applicant. The apostille itself is completed the next business day. Before affixing an apostille, a state fee must be paid.

The service provider and the employee of the State Corporation receive information about the identity documents of the service recipient, a document confirming payment of the fee to the budget, as well as information about the state registration of civil status acts carried out on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan from the relevant state information systems through the “electronic government” gateway.

We remind you that an apostille is an international standardized form of filling out information about the legality of a document for presentation on the territory of states and countries that recognize this form of legalization. If an apostille is affixed to a “paper” document, it is usually a special stamp. It is placed on the back of the document or on a special sheet filed with it.
